The Albanian Post has joined the initiatives undertaken by the Municipality of Tirana for environmental protection
Representatives of the European Post and the Albanian Post, along with the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, planted 30 seedlings in the southern part of the Lake Park.
Albanian Post Administrator Laert Duraj welcomed the initiative of the Municipality of Tirana, which in addition to improving the quality of life in the city, is raising the awareness of the Albanian society for more attention to the environment. He stated “The real significance of what Erion and the Municipality of Tirana are doing goes beyond the number of trees planted, but to the example being given and to the awareness of the Albanian society. I am pleased to see that all other municipalities follow with the same dedication the examples given by Tirana. The same thing we want to do at the Albanian Post, to create an example for public companies, state and private, to use means of transport, to turn their eyes to green energy,”
Praising the contribution of the Albanian Post and the European Post, the mayor said initiatives aimed at greening the capital have found support not only among Albanians but also with foreigners visiting our country.
“I am very happy that colleagues representing the European Post and Albanian Post are with us in the action of planting trees. I am glad that not only Albanians but also foreigners who come here for a conference, seminar or business trip find some time and join the city’s energy to plant trees. We are in the last month, thank God there was also rain, humidity, a perfect moment to close the tree planting with a strong sprint, “Veliaj declared.
After the first fleets of electric taxis and vehicles of the Municipality of Tirana, the Albanian Post is also changing the logistics to make it more environmentally friendly.
12 ecological vehicles donated by UPU (Universal Postal Union) are added to Albanian Post. In the meantime, 6 additional electric vehicle chargers are added to the capital, which are added to those set by the municipality.
The representative of the European Post, Maire Lodi, expressed her satisfaction that the Albanian Post will also use hybrid and electric vehicles. “We have some really green initiatives, one is planting trees. We have planted trees in our member countries every spring since 2014, and we are very happy that the Albanian Post will now also use hybrid cars for distribution. It will be a good sign for Tirana, ”she said.
